The Therapeutic Equine Activities (TEA) program is being offered this Fall at no cost to first responders at the Historic Columbia Speedway.
A “gym” for the brain. Like going to the gym strengthens the body, working with a horse can help strengthen your mind. The horses give instant non-judgmental feedback on learning mindfulness and emotional resilience.
TEA is taught by Lindsay McDade, a local first responder with Cayce Fire Department. In her experience most mental health resources for first responders are for crisis only. She aims to change this narrative by providing resiliency skills to first responders with the TEA program and be “tool in the toolbox” if ever needed.
